Black Mental Health Campaign
The week wraps up AFRO's Black Mental Health Campaign. This fall programming consisted of educating the youth on the importance of mental health while also providing them with the skills and tools that can be used to not only gauge their mental health but healthily regulate it as well. Join Afro this coming January as we look to ramp up our mental health programs for our youth end elderly in the winter!

Connecting With Community
Some staff from AFRO had the privilege to connect with the new Chief of Police - Chief John Goodman, and the WRPS team to discuss strengthening the visible minority through community engagement initiatives. AFRO is excited about the collaborative activities we will share together in the future.

Seniors & Canadian Mental Health Association
Commemorating Seniors in June, the seniors from the Support Through the Generations Program had the privilege to interact with Christine Platt from the Canadian Mental Health Association about Self-Advocacy for Healthcare Conversations.

Mindfulness Exercises
Between group projects, presentations and final exams, the end of the semester can be a very stressful time! With this in mind, AFRO’s counsellor Jess led a mindfulness exercise to help relieve stress and anxiety some of our teens are currently experiencing

Spoons & Mindfulness
To engage the young kids in the conversation for mental health awareness, they were made to play a fun-filled card game of Spoons (but we improvised with popsicle sticks).

A time with Victoria Peters
To welcome the seniors back from the long break, AFRO invited Victoria Peters from the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) to speak to them about the impact of the pandemic on their mental health and how they can improve their well-being.

Who Am I?
Using paint, creativity, and a lot of glitters, our kids made masks to explore the various layers of their identity. Reflecting on the question "Who am I?" created space to discuss their inner feelings, thoughts and emotions.

Happy 7th Work Anniversary, AFRO!!
Anniversaries are the opportunities to recollect our year gone memories and cherish them again.
